Through rhythmic movement, the spoken word, sound & visual expressions, and sensory processing — a free and protected space for transformation.
Onyx Pathways provides holistic, somatic, transformative, kinetic, analytical, visual, and movement therapies. Create symbolic miniatures at scale and experience the numinous.

Projective, symbolic therapies provide a safe and protected space for you to express your feelings. Through sound, rhythm, and multi-sensory processing, you use a variety of figures, objects, voice, and movement to explore and understand deeper emotional conflicts for narrative reclaiming and neurobiological rebuilding.
We offer specialized support for those dealing with trauma. Use sandplay or sand tray to visualize, process, release, and integrate your experiences in a constructive way.
Depression, mood distortions, and thought distortions are addressed through creative, expressive movement, sound, and speech in a free and protected space. Let rhythm, sand, visuals, mythology, and miniatures be your voice and resting peace — easing depressive withdrawal, restoring vitality, and re-engaging connection. This process aligns you to peace, satisfaction, and the agency to thrive — feeling better about yourself and your contributions to life.
Awaken inner sight, depth perception, inspiration, intuition, peace, love, discipline, vitality, courage, respect, wisdom, and fortitude.
A guide to know thyself.
In Jungian and Kalffian sandplay psychology, the therapist is not just an observer but part of a containing field in which the tray becomes a place for psychic transformation. Containment arises from the tray itself, the therapist's embodied witnessing presence, and the wider relational setting.
The therapist is uniquely qualified through continual personal experience in analysis and sandplay — having journeyed further along the path of individuation. Jungian psychology holds that personal, moral, and spiritual development are ever-unfolding: the hero's journey that calls each of us toward wholeness.
We honor your heroism in embarking on this journey — the courage to turn inward, face what is unseen, and walk the path toward becoming whole.
A liminal space of amplifications, bridges, crucibles, extinguishers, and builders to hold traumatic, painful, and unconscious energies safely — a free and protected space where inner worlds take visible form, the dream is projected for closer inspection and narrative reclamation, opportunities in clearing the record, saying that thing you wish you had said, and Being Human in all your glory!
Creates deeply embodied emotional resonance and a containing field through intentionality, breath work, kinetic processing, and attuned attentiveness. The therapist serves as an emotionally regulating witness and safe field for psyche and healthy reinvigoration. The therapist embodies 'Grandma's hands' in African American spiritual and ancestral wisdom — a steady, sensate function and calming presence that stabilizes and strengthens, overcoming stress and pain, and restoring hope, self-protective capacity, right thought, and personal responsibility and agency.
The shared symbolic field between therapist and client — a temenos for inner processing where symbols bridge conscious and unconscious, mediating transformation.
Sandplay offers a safe, protected space for children and adults to express trauma nonverbally and gain distance from overwhelming affects — turning passive experience into active agency.
Experience the psychological and embodied transmutation and transformation through somatic release and wise mind-body energy use. Experience the uplifting blossoming of visuals, trays, dreams, and metaphors for emerging positive perspective, mood, talents and strengths expressions, and co-supported needs. Experience relief, hope, accelerated progress, excitement, and exhilaration through psyche's movement.
The visual field mirrors the macro — the world you create every day through projections and stories. Sandplay and experiential therapies are neurosensory, inter-brain, mind-body therapy where neural and emotional growth are lasting. It develops somatic-limbic-cortical connections: prefrontal cortex development for emotional-behavioral regulation, rewiring the brain for language development, memory and emotional retrieval, and trauma processing.
Experience all of you and the rich landscape of emotions and words. Develop insight, relational capacity, attention, courage, and regulation through visual, kinetic, biblio-expressive, and sound therapies. Free and open creativity to Be the Change and quell defenses — counterconditioning the mind-body-spirit connection in real time.
Experience the dynamic encounter of disowned parts or shadows becoming lighter, within limits, and integrated for self-control through bilateral brain stimulation and interhemispheric communication.
The therapist is there — holding sacred psyche expressions, taming and shaping emerging energies, capabilities, and strengths.
The therapist aligns to you with a fullness of hope and Spirit — witnessing, emotional holding, and shared participation in a symbolic field where traumatic and unconscious material can safely emerge, be held, and gradually transformed. Depth therapies hold that the therapist is likewise transformed with each growing pain and psychological alchemy.
Healing is not a thought you arrive at — it is a trembling you survive, together. Emotion and motion share a root. We are literally moved, and moving, in response to one another. This is where repair begins: in the space between two bodies that choose to stay.
Affective resonance is mutual "moving and being moved." Emotions arise from dynamic couplings of bodies — facial expressions, gestures, vocalizations — in interaction, not just from internal states. It involves reciprocal modulation of the capacity to affect and be affected, often complementary rather than simple synchrony. Embodied models describe bodily resonance — gut, chest, posture, movement — as the medium through which situations and others' expressions are felt and gain emotional meaning (Mühlhoff, 2014; Fuchs & Koch, 2014).
In a Gestalt frame, suffering is a rigid field shared by therapist and client. Embodied affective resonance in both bodies reveals and transforms this shared field. Speech, gaze, gesture, and posture form one integrated, multisensory gestalt, allowing rapid recognition and deeper contact. Sensing beauty and tolerating uncertainty in the field opens space for genuine reorganization. Body awareness and resonance become the mechanism for increasing awareness, contacting avoided experience, and integrating the self — the foundation of restorative change (Sarasso & Francesetti, 2022; García, 2021; Cavaleri & Isidoro, 2026; Fugate & Macrine, 2024).
Positive resonance in everyday encounters predicts more prosociality and less self-centeredness, and can be cultivated through social connectedness. Empathy and compassion rely on partly distinct brain networks; self–other distinction supports presence without overwhelm. This is why genuine, person-centered therapeutic presence matters — the quality of the relationship itself shapes whether resonance heals.
Gestalt psychology stands alongside Jungian and Kalffian sandplay as a depth psychoanalytical therapy. Its distinguishing factors are discernment and differentiation — the capacity to perceive what is figure and what is ground, to distinguish self from other, and to contact experience directly rather than merge with it. Where other approaches seek integration, Gestalt insists first on clarity: What is mine? What is yours? What belongs to this moment, and what belongs to the past?
This work requires personal courage. To differentiate is to risk standing as one's unique self — separate from roles, expectations, and inherited patterns. To discern is to see clearly what has been fused, avoided, or unconsciously carried. Gestalt therapy holds that true contact emerges only when we can distinguish ourselves from the field and choose, with awareness, how to meet it. The reward is authenticity: the capacity to be fully present, fully oneself, and fully in relationship — at once differentiated and deeply connected.
Two nervous systems breathe together. What feels unbearable alone becomes tolerable in shared rhythm — the body learns it is no longer carrying the weight by itself.
Mühlhoff, 2014; Fuchs & Koch, 2014
Gut, chest, posture, and breath carry knowing that words cannot reach. Sensation becomes the language — the body itself becomes the instrument of insight.
Fuchs & Koch, 2014
Speech, gaze, gesture, and posture form one integrated gestalt. Awareness deepens beyond words — a glance can hold what a sentence cannot.
Trujillo & Holler, 2023; Kwon & Iedema, 2022
Sensing beauty and tolerating uncertainty in the shared field loosens what has been rigid. Space opens for genuine reorganization — for becoming new.
